New Knowledge Adventures (NKA) at Idaho State University is a member-directed organization for adults of retirement age to expand knowledge and explore new ideas in an informal, noncompetitive environment. Fall 2026 membership registration opens, and catalog pickup will begin on August 12th, with class registration opening for up to 20 classes on August 25th. No class limit begins August 26th.

Fees for trips must be received thirty (30) days prior to scheduled departure date. Your reservation for the trip will be taken in order of payment, not registration. If we do not have the minimum number of people paid 30 days prior to a trip, we will cancel it. Fees are nonrefundable within that 30-day period except for medical reasons. If you cancel for medical reasons we will refund any monies that are not dedicated funds. Dedicated funds include bus costs, which are based on the number of people who have paid for the trip, and any nonrefundable expenses that NKA has spent on the trip.

Stress, whether acute or chronic, can significantly impact emotional and physical well-being. My speaking event focuses on managing stress, emotional resilience, and personal growth. I guide audiences in recognizing the effects of stress and share actionable coping strategies for a balanced, healthier life.
Texas Hold 'em Poker
This class is for everyone who wants to play Texas Hold’em Poker. Groups will be set up by ability levels. We will teach anyone to play.
Common Invertebrate Fossils from Around Idaho
Collectible fossils are abundant across Idaho, especially in the south and central parts of the State. Learn to identify common marine invertebrate fossils and what they reveal about their ancient environment.
Working Mini Donkey Ranch
Come to working mini-donkey ranch and see their operation and ask questions.
Origami for Grandparents
Your grandkids already think you are cool and patient and good for great healthy snacks. In this class you will learn a few origami tricks to really impress. Transform a flat colorful square of paper into a pretty bird, then pull her tail to flap her wings. Choose another paper and fold a dinosaur. Or a frog that jumps. Or a bird with a brood of babies. The models in this class are simple to fold. Some kids will want to learn to fold themselves.
Stained Glass Circular Landscape
In this beginner-stained glass class you will make a circular landscape suncatcher. Learn to cut glass, wrap the pieces in copper foil and solder them together to create a simple design that you’ll complete by the end of class to take home. All supplies and instructions will be provided for you. Please wear closed-toe shoes. Note this class is in Blackfoot, contact facilitator regarding possible carpool.
Health and Wildfires: Making the Most of your Idaho Autumn
Every Idahoan knows the season, when the sunsets are blood red and the air is tinged with smoke. Wildfires are increasing in intensity and duration across the western US and all those fires can have an impact on your health. In this course we’ll discuss some of the factors that are creating conditions for intense wildfires in our region, the potential health impacts from prolonged exposure to poor air quality from wildfires and ways to stay healthy during wildfire season.
Bee Farm
Get ready to be utterly be-dazzled in this class that’s all about BEES! Journey with us into their magical miniature world. Uncover the secrets of their waggle dance language, the amazing architecture of their honeycombs, and how these tiny superheroes pollinate the flowers that bring us delicious fruits and veggies. We’ll share enchanting stories and simple ways you can sprinkle a little bee-love into your world.
