How to grow Food as if Your Life Depends on it!
You'll learn how to grow 5 to 10 times more food with less space, less time, less work, less water, less weeds and less cost. Regardless of which gardening method you use. Once you understand and implement the six laws of plant growth you'll grow your dream garden consistently year-after-year, in any soil, in any climate, and with no soil amendments.
Supporting Older Idahoans
The Area Agency on Aging connects older adults, caregivers, and community members with services and supports that promote independence, safety, and quality of life. This session will provide an overview of our role and highlight three programs: Adult Protection Services (APS): safeguarding vulnerable adults from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Long-Term Care Ombudsman: advocating for residents in assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) & MIPPA: helping individuals prevent Medicare fraud and connect to cost-saving benefits.
Understanding Death and Grief
This class will help you understand death from the Funeral Home Perspective. You will have a tour of the Ammon wood funeral Home facility including the embalming room and cremation center. The class will also talk about understanding grief and the stages of grief.
Garden Tour: Geo-Thermal Greenhouse
(To get the most out of this tour it is recommended that you attend the "How to Grow Food as if Your Life Depends on It!" class prior to this tour.) Would you like to pick vine ripe tomatoes Christmas morning? I do, and I'll show you how you can too with an affordable backyard geo-thermal greenhouse. I'm growing lemons, oranges, figs, grapefruit, limes and more year-round. Tour the greenhouse and herb gardens and see first hand how you can do this too.
Help for Your Green Thumb (Class A)
Aaron will give us a tour of Eagle Rock's shop and greenhouse and discuss new plant varieties that will thrive in Eastern Idaho. We will offer the same class twice to all for more to attend
Healing Plants from your Backyard
Familiar, easy to obtain plants and Herbs you can uses to heal wounds and sicknesses and a brief explanation on how to use them.
Tulip Festival Bus Trip
Join fellow FFL members and guests for a fun trip in the spring season. That day we will enjoy the magic of the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point and make a few other stops. The cost is to be determined and will include bus and all entry fees. Although you are not obligated, please sign up if you are interested in participating. No money is required at this time. You are not officially registered for this class till you pay your trip fees. This is an interested list only.
Museum of Idaho - Dinos of the Deep Underwater
Tour of Life Before Dinosaurs. Meet the Permian monsters. This exhibit explores some of the weird and wild creatures that went extinct before dinosaurs roamed the earth. Class limit: 30 Class Fee: $12
