Friends For Learning operates totally by volunteers. As this organization has grown, the need for volunteers has increased. We need volunteers in the following areas: Curriculum, Cultural Cuisine, Hiking, Walking & Exploring, and helping Leadership. FRIENDS FOR LEARNING - Membership

Friends for Learning (FFL) is an educational venture enjoyed by people age 50 and over. This venture is for those who wish to stimulate their thinking and expand their knowledge. The purpose of Friends for Learning is to provide, at a minimal cost, activities, special events, and opportunities for study for retired and semi-retired people who want to continue their intellectual growth and enjoy being part of a like-minded community. Terms of Membership Membership shall be open to any person 50 years or older who is willing to abide by the provisions of the FFL, Inc. Bylaws and who has paid their dues for the current semester. All Board Members are exempt from payment of dues as a requirement of membership. Payment of dues also constitutes a signature of the FFL, Inc. Indemnity form each semester to waive all liability on the part of Friends for Learning, Inc. and/or its officers. Consecutive Registration for Membership and Classes HERE. HWE - Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing (group list)

EMAIL LIST - This class is for those interested in cross-country skiing and/or snowshoeing. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced skier, this class gives you an opportunity to get together with others who are interested in SC skiing and snowshoeing. We will go on adventures locally and in the surrounding areas.

HWE - Day Adventures (group list)

This Hiking, Walking, Exploring (HWE) "class" consists of various outdoor "shared adventures" (about two per month) from April or May through September or October (weather dependent). Activities may include hiking, biking, float trips, horseback riding, caving/climbing (non-technical), zip lining, bird watching, etc. This is a participatory class, guided by class (your) input and available facilitators/coordinators, so we are open to try most anything. Activities can range from easy to strenuous and might last two hours or all day depending on the activity and/or selected location. Locations generally must be within 150 miles or 2.5 hours (driving time) of Idaho Falls. Class enrollees will also be placed on the email distribution list for HWE's week-long trip announcements - generally, 3 or 4 trips per year (January - December)."Shared adventures" refers to outdoor recreational experiences undertaken by two or more individuals who are working cooperatively toward a common goal, sharing in decision-making, other responsibilities, and costs as equitably as possible. While there is a designated Facilitator (i.e., coordinator or point of contact) for each activity, there is no "leader" in the sense of a single person who makes all the decisions and who owns all of the responsibility. Shared adventures are an excellent opportunity to get outdoors, embrace personal challenge, develop resilience and learn adaptability in a supportive group environment.

NKA Membership - Pocatello

New Knowledge Adventures at Idaho State University is a member-directed organization for adults of retirement age to expand knowledge and explore new ideas in an informal, noncompetitive environment. Membership is offered for $65. 2026 Spring membership registration will open on January 8th, with class registration opening (for up to 20 classes) on January 20th. No class limit on January 21st. Parking Pass - FFL

You must register for a parking pass each school year if you plan to park at the ISU campus. You must have a parking pass displayed prominently, or you may be ticketed. If you have a parking pass for this year, please hang on to it for the spring. Normally a parking pass will be sent to you from ISU when you sign up for one. You may be asked to do an online registration system for your car as the ISU process is changing. Note: Replacement parking passes currently can be purchased from Kathie Hendrix (208-589-4352) at an additional cost. Every vehicle on campus must be linked to a valid parking pass, as parking enforcement will be matched with the license plate. Parking Pass - NKA

ISU on-campus parking pass for NKA members only. Call ISU CEWT for more details @ (208) 282-3372. Parking passes paid for online will be mailed in about a week after the car information from is completed. The ISU Tiger Paw parking pass will be good for one school year (September 1 - August 31). Do not discard it. For the 2025-2026 academic year, all parking passes issued will need to be assigned to specific vehicles. Please continue to use your pass in your registered car.
