Spirit of Indian Relay Racing
Participants will learn about the history, cultural significance, and fundamentals of Indian Relay racing. The class will include discussion of relay teams, horse care, rider safety, race techniques, and the role Indian Relays play in Native communities today. Participants will also hear about the traditions and athleticism connected to this fast-paced Native sport.
“A Brief History of Earth”
The lecture will be based on the 2023 book A Brief History of Earth, by Andrew H. Knoll. As it turns out, I even know Andy Knoll, and helped supervise one of his students. Anyway, the topic fundamental concepts of how the earth works and how it has interacted with the Biological World and produced Earth’s 4.5-billion-year history, including fascinating Big Picture concepts about Earth History, including Meteorites, and Gaia and Geological perspective on climate change.

This class will provide information about the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, with ways to be involved as a volunteer, participant, or community partner. After the presentation, we’ll ha e a Q&A session, followed by a small craft activity.
Intro to Spanish
This course introduces students to basic Spanish communication skills through the study of essential grammatical structures, everyday vocabulary, and guided conversational practice. Students develop listening comprehension and speaking abilities while learning to interact in common real-life situations. The course also explores the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries, helping students build intercultural awareness alongside linguistic competence. Emphasis is placed on practical language use, comprehension, and confidence in basic oral communication.

The GAP is a place where people can produce, heal, and connect. Our vision is to be a systems leader for a vibrant art and STEM ecosystem in Pocatello and a model for others to build on. Our Teen Center and Maker Space is for middle-school youth with high-school seniors helping as well as retired community members for an inter-generational vibe. Across from Marshall Public Library, we are open every day after school and weekday summer afternoons.
