Iris Folding is a Dutch craft that uses small pieces of folded paper to make beautiful designs. (Rarely flowers!) Students should bring scissors, magic tape, ruler, pencil. All other material will be supplied.
Volcanoes and Caves, Gem Valley/Soda Springs Area (Part 1)
Idaho has some of the most diverse geology of any state in the country. Come learn about some of the geologic features in and around Gem Valley, from volcanoes to lava tubes created by those volcanoes, to limestone caves and natural carbonated water. This class will be a learning experience of geologic time, past volcanic activity in our area, lava tubes, groundwater, and limestone caves. Get a glimpse of what happens at museums behind-the-scenes and the numerous challenges that come with caring for different types of biology collections – from frogs in jars to pressed plants. Tour the collection and learn about the tragedies, triumphs, and mysteries that lurk behind museum shelves.
Microbiology in Your World
This two-session course will focus on the microorganisms that impact your life. The first session will be an introduction to Microbiology as a scientific discipline and cover viruses. The second session will be over bacteria and fungi important in the human world and the environment. Beneficial and pathogenic microbes will be discussed.
Medicare Updates/How to use the Drug Plan Finder
An overview of any upcoming changes to Medicare in 2027 will be provided. Attendees will be provided with information about how to select their own Medicare Prescription Drug Plan and how to enroll in it. Using the Medicare website, students will be provided step-by-step instructions on how to enter their medications and pharmacy choice in order to create an individualized plan that will best suit their needs.
