New Knowledge Adventures (NKA) at Idaho State University is a member-directed organization for adults of retirement age to expand knowledge and explore new ideas in an informal, noncompetitive environment. Fall 2026 membership registration opens, and catalog pickup will begin on August 12th, with class registration opening for up to 20 classes on August 25th. No class limit begins August 26th.

Fees for trips must be received thirty (30) days prior to scheduled departure date. Your reservation for the trip will be taken in order of payment, not registration. If we do not have the minimum number of people paid 30 days prior to a trip, we will cancel it. Fees are nonrefundable within that 30-day period except for medical reasons. If you cancel for medical reasons we will refund any monies that are not dedicated funds. Dedicated funds include bus costs, which are based on the number of people who have paid for the trip, and any nonrefundable expenses that NKA has spent on the trip.

Lunch and Games
Welcome back to Lunch and Games at Juniper Hills Country Club. Lunch is served at noon. Hand and Foot game or Dominoes Mexican Train game will be played from 1:00-3:00. You must sign up to participate each month. You will receive a phone call each month to verify your attendance for the class. Be sure to indicate on the registration form the months you plan to attend. Call the facilitator, Sharon Manning (208-233-9425) if you must cancel.
Full Moon Hike at the Nordic Center
If you like hiking and moonlight, you’ll enjoy this hike at the Nordic Center during the Hunter’s Moon. Dress according to the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring a headlamp or flashlight just in case the moon hides.
Bridge Practice! Be Competitive
Practice making Overcalls and Take Out Doubles. Practice responding with Negative, Responsive Doubles, Redoubles, and the Law of Total Tricks. We will play 8 hands each week. Discuss the bidding, the responses, and the defense of each hand.
ISU Craft Shop Needle Felted Bird
Use colored wool and a needle to form a cute bird that is sure to bring a smile to all. Please note that needle felting involves repetitive, physical hand and arm exercise.

L.D. will walk us through the creation of a spooky Halloween bouquet.
Off the Rails Brewing - Beer Tasting
Join your NKA friends at Off the Rails Brewing for a beer tasting event. There will be a selection of different beers from which you can choose six 3oz samples. Snacks will also be provided.
Quilling
Come join the fun of making Christmas snowflakes with combs and strips of paper.
Origami Simple Kusudama
In the first class, you will learn to fold a simple unit. You will choose a set of 30 matching squares with a colorful print. You will then have two weeks to complete 30 matching units. In the second class, we will fit your units into a beautiful sphere that you will cherish and display in your home, or perhaps you will present it to someone as a gift. The word ‘Kusudama’ literally means ‘prayer ball’ or ‘medicine ball’. If you have someone in mind who could use some positive support, you can mindfully create your Kusudama as a truly meaningful gift of love and support.
