Motor Operated Valve (MOV)
The Motor Operated Valve (MOV) Design Basis Course offers a combined classroom and laboratory educational experience dedicated to the functionality of Safety-Related Motor-Operated Valves under Design-Basis conditions. Since 2004, ISU has been able to establish and maintain a highly respected technical training program, initially focused on training US Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff. In response to utility, consultant, and vendor requests, ISU’s ESTEC is now offering this training to nuclear industry engineers and senior technicians to provide detailed understanding of the operation and function of MOVs in nuclear service. The training includes a comprehensive awareness of MOV: • design basis performance, • design basis verification and in-service testing of MOVs, • regulatory aspects of MOV maintenance and testing, • hands-on work with MOV actuators. This course is taught by industry experts who have been on the forefront of MOV engineering with the United States Department of Energy's Idaho National Laboratory. With more than 52 years combined experience in Motor Operated Valve design basis research, nuclear energy reactor operations, commercial plant licensing and NRC MOV inspection, instructors Kevin G. DeWall and Mark R. Holbrook possess the distinctive knowledge necessary to provide this comprehensive training. Paint Still Life
Join artist Deanna Eveland and learn to see the beauty in everyday objects while discovering the timeless art of still life. Whether you are a beginner or experienced artist, this course offers hands-on instruction in drawing and painting, composition, light and shadow, proportion, and color while working from a real-life arrangement. This session includes demonstrations, guided practice, and feedback in a supportive environment. All skill levels are welcome. Basic supplies will be provided. Assistance with Medications
Qualify yourself to assist with medications in assisted living, group home, and certified family home settings. Upon completion of the course, you will know the legal requirements for assistance with medications, be able to identify safety factors involved and know your responsibilities and restrictions when assisting with medications. Closed-book written exam and skills exam are conducted at the end of class. Glass Blowing - Paperweight
Create your own paperweight in this beginner soft glass class. Work alongside Poky Glass Art Studio artists to create a work of glass art! Participants will make a solid glass paperweight swirled with color. Choose from a wide selection of colored frit to make something you can display, while learning the basics of soft glass in our furnace. Participants may have time to make more than one paperweight, but each additional paperweight will have a $35 fee applied for material cost. Want to learn digital art or get better at using Procreate? This relaxed, hands-on class will help you feel confident creating art on your iPad. Instructor Deanna Eveland will walk through the basics – using brushes, layers, colors, shading, texture, importing and exporting work and more. Bring your iPad with Procreate and a stylus (Apple pencil is best). All experience levels are welcome – just come ready to create and have fun! AHA Heartcode BLS Provider CPR - Online Blended Learning
Heartcode BLS Provider CPR is an online blended learning course option ideal for students recertifying or with a previous CPR background. Students will be emailed a ‘key’ to access the online course. After completing the online portion, students attend a structured BLS Hands-On Session with an AHA Instructor. Students will need to present the course certificate to the instructor at the two-hour hands-on session. Hands-on Session: 2 Hours Fee: $65 (includes an online course, hands-on session with AHA instructor, and certification card) The online portion must be completed and the student will need to present the course certificate to the instructor at the two-hour hands-on session. Important Information: Students will be sent an email within 2 business days of enrollment with instructions for accessing and completing the online portion of the course. To allow time to complete the online component prior to the in-person session, the deadline for enrollment in this course is 3 business days before the in-person session. Students who withdraw from the course after the online access instructions are mailed out may only receive a refund minus the cost of the online component, which is $34. Everyone Can Draw
This is a 4 part multi session Class! For the person who always wanted to draw or improve the skills they have. Several different mediums will be introduced including, watercolor, pastels, and color pencil, ink. Papers and pens will be supplied, bring regular #2 pencils, a sharpener and a “simple box” of color pencils (Crayola brand works.) Each class you will go home with a completed drawing while learning several new tools and techniques to make drawing easy and fun. You just might surprise yourself.
