2023 NEC Code Update
Every 3 years the National Electrical Code is revised and new code changes are included and adopted by the states. To renew their licenses in Idaho, Master and Journeyman electricians must have 24 hours of continuing education, 8 hours of which must be on the current code changes to renew their licenses. Electrical Grounding and Bounding (NEC 2023)
This 8 hour class highlights one of the most important, but least understood articles in the National Electrical Code® - Grounding and Bonding. Simply put, proper grounding and bonding protects your employees from electric shock and your plant and equipment from heat and fire. Construction Combine
The Construction Combine has become a highly anticipated annual community event, drawing strong support from industry, educators, volunteers, and partners who come together to advance construction skills and meaningful service for local veterans. We are grateful for the strong support and shared commitment that have helped shape this important community initiative. After careful consideration and consultation with our supporting partners, Idaho State University will not be holding the Construction Combine in 2026. This planned pause allows us to step back, strengthen the program, and prepare for a successful return in 2027. Our commitment to workforce development in the construction trades remains strong, and we look forward to continuing this work together. Inspired by the NFL draft, the Construction Combine allows trainees to demonstrate their skills and learn new ones. This is a great opportunity to help your community by meeting with local contractors and learning their specific construction needs. And you could possibly get hired to come work with them! On day one, trainees will be placed on a team and will participate in training sessions, covering several topics including: Framing Concrete Electrical Plumbing Drywall Flooring Siding Welding On day two, trainees will demonstrate their new skills by building sheds with area contractors. The sheds will be donated to local disabled veterans. Once the sheds are built, the trainees will have time to ask questions of the contractors who are looking for good employees they can hire. This event is one of a kind! You will learn new skills, rub shoulders with local construction industry leaders, and eat some great food.
