Ignite Their Future at STEM Summer Camp

 

Several opportunities are available to you at camp this year!

 

Are you looking for a fun and exciting way to earn professional development credits this summer?  Would you like to earn some extra funds at the same time?  Here is what we can offer.

 

The Energy Systems Technology & Education Center (ESTEC) at Idaho State University, in coordination with the College of Science and Engineering, the College of Technology, and the College of Education, is looking for 6th through 12th grade teachers who are ready to make STEM-related subjects come alive for their students.  You can choose from several different areas: 

 

6th through 8th Grades

Coding with Scratch: Create Your Own Interactive Stories and Games
Idaho Dino Dioramas!
Radiation Detectives
Robotic Revolution

 

9th through 12th Grades

Intro to Computerized Machining

Robotic Revolution
Getting to Know the Exciting Life of EMS

Register for Professional Development

 

You will receive instruction on the strand of your choice, prepare your own lesson plans, exchange ideas with other teachers, and receive some materials and supplies to get you started.  Your commitment dates will vary depending on your level of participation but will fall between June 3, 2024 and June 14, 2024. Professional development credits are also available. Please click HERE to register. Instructions to access the Community Moodle page for credit requirements will be shared with you upon registration and payment.

 

One credit hour will be available for professional development credit, depending on your level of involvement.  Applying for professional development credits is optional, and if you choose to register for those credits, the university requires the usual transcription fee of $55 per credit.

 

APPLY TO HELP WITH THE CAMP AND HAVE A PAID POSITION

 

After learning the subject matter and preparing lessons, you have the opportunity to help with the camps, which will be June 3-7, 2024 for Middle School, and June 10-14, 2024 for High School.  If you participate in the prep sessions as well as the camp itself, you will be paid for your time spent in both the preparation and the delivery of instruction to the campers.

 
Camp teachers will be paid $20 per hour for both preparation and delivery of content during camp.  The camp classes will be small, with no more than 12 students in each class.

Educators Participating in the Preparation Session for Professional Development (Uncompensated) Grades x-x

Receive instruction from a technical instructor, 4 hours in the morning

Prepare lesson plans in the afternoon

Submit lesson plans to camp coordinator at the end of the week

 

 

Optional:  Register and pay for 1 professional dev credit ($55)
