This class will help develop and enhance the options of self-defense, so they may become viable considerations to the woman who is attacked.  Students pair up to learn physical movements and active resistance.  Practical application of techniques will be demonstrated, discussed, and practiced.  Safety in class, home, streets, etc. will be thoroughly reviewed.  Typical types of attacks (according to police reports) will be utilized in learning defensive techniques.  Perceptions and societal expectations will be explored.  If a student has specific concerns, these may be discussed with the instructor in private.  Respectful attitudes and behavior will be maintained at all times.  Students must wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.  No jewelry of any kind; earrings, watches, rings, bracelets, necklaces, etc.  Sneakers or athletic shoes are best for training.  No pre-requisites required.  Handouts will be provided in class.  Bring water for hydration and a writing instrument to take notes.
