Thalidomide is the most enigmatic drug ever produced, which started causing birth defects on Christmas day 1956 and continues causing birth defects today. I have been researching this drug’s mechanism of action since 1972, and in 2001, coauthored the definitive history of the drug, Dark Remedy: The Impact of Thalidomide and It’s Revival as a Vital Medicine (Trent Stephens and Rock Brynner, Perseus Books, Cambridge, MA). Now I am working on my follow-up book, Thalidomide: The Monstrous Wonder Drug. Join me to check this book’s progress.
