What is xeriscape? Xeriscape is landscaping, or gardening, that reduces the need for irrigation. The word comes from the Greek root xeros, meaning “dry.” The word “zero” is not part of xeriscaping! Xeriscaping is not no-water, but low-water. Xeriscaping makes our homes and businesses more suited to the place we live.  Happyville Farm will show you how easy it can be to make the change to low-water, low-work xeriscape. Why switch to low-water xeriscaping? We’ll discuss several major reasons, including: Create a beautiful landscape appropriate to our high desert environment. Save money on water bills - and save water for our drought-stricken west. Support pollinators and other wildlife. Cut down on maintenance costs!

The in-class presentation will be 1 hour, followed by a tour and hands-on demonstration at Happyville Community Farm at 640 S Saturn Ave.

Optional field trip is limited to 15 people.
