In the song cycle Die Winterreise (1828) or The Winter Journey, Franz Schubert (1797-1828) presents a beautiful and moving example of early German Romanticism. Drs. Kori Bond, Craig Nickisch, and Geoffrey Friedley will present different perspectives on Schubert’s musical interpretation of the poetry of Wilhelm Müller (1794-1827). This presentation will serve as a preview of, and will enhance the enjoyment of, the subsequent performance of Die Winterreise by pianist Bond and tenor Friedley in ISU’s Goranson Hall at 7:30 on Saturday, March 3, 2018.
Location: Liberty Hall, 325 W. Benton, lecture room
