Idaho is one of the lowest ranking states in the nation for mental health resources. The news today is filled with the outcome of inadequate mental health support. This course is one of several actions being taken by ISU to assist in resolving this state-wide problem. The course teaches healthcare workers and the public how to assist the adults in mental health crisis in the community. The student is taught to recognize and appropriately respond to the most severe and/or most common mental health conditions. Multiple hands-on acativities make it a fun and dynamic course. Our instructor is certified through the Mental Health First Aid Australia. Students must be eighteen years of age to take the course, a background check will be required prior to clinical participation (check crimes against https://chu.dhw.idaho.gov/ - select Denials then Disqualifying Offenses).
