Lodges and fraternal organizations had a lasting effect on the development of business districts in growing towns and cities in Idaho and the west. A number of buildings in historic downtown, still standing and some long gone, contributed to the development of Pocatello. Learn where they are, their history, and their contributions to the city. Railroad houses were prefabricated houses brought in on flatbed railcars to provide housing for the first railroad workers and other settlers. Many of them still exist around the city and can be seen by certain characteristics which make them recognizable today. This presentation includes illustrations of many of them including how they looked originally, and how they looked today.
