The Pocatello District of the Civilian Conservation Corp was the southeast Idaho hub of water conservation and wilderness management, road building and flood preservation, offering thousands of young men jobs during the Great Depression. The CCC was the most popular and longest lived of the New Deal programs, and because Idaho had hundreds of camps, learning about the program in Idaho helps us understand the lasting social, economic and environmental impact the CCC has had in Idaho and the nation. Thanks to the NKA Board and the Idaho Humanities Council, our two presenters are from Moscow, Idaho.
