This lecture will deal with the early history of Idaho up to statehood in 1890. Among the topics we will cover include pre-history, the fur trading era, the Oregon Trail, the building of the railroads, early mining history, disenfranchisement of Mormons, and political events leading to statehood. Paul Link, Professor of Geology, taught, with E. Chilton Phoenix, the course Rocks, Rails, and Trails, upon which much of this lecture will be based. They also wrote the book!
