The grassroots beginning, or history of cowboy poetry will be discussed. Notable cowboy poets will be discussed, and some of their poems will be read. Students will discuss with the instructor, the tenants of writing a cowboy poem. The outcome will be that students will write their own cowboy poetry. We will collect these, form a booklet, and make all of them available to the participants.
