For 300 years John Foxe’s “Book of Martyrs” sat next to the Bible in English households.  It was first published in Switzerland (1554), and then in England (1563-1584). With 2300 folio pages and 150 woodcuts, it became the largest, most complex publishing project undertaken in that country, and greatly influenced the people and their religion.  The class format will be a show and tell with the actual early editions available for perusal by class members
