Idaho State University

 

Marian Twitchell (6th degree black belt) began her karate training in 1981 at Idaho State University with the ISU Karate Club and joined the International Karate League or IKL (then Statewide Karate League) under the direction of Sensei Mel Teshima.  She also trained in Judo with Sensei Sami Tadahari while attending ISU. 

 

She graduated from ISU with a Bachelor's degree in Education and a minor in phycology.  She also earned a Master's degree in Health Promotion.  She assisted then led Women's Self-Defense classes for ISU Physical Education Department.  She has worked in the mental health field with trauma victims with mild to severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  Twitchell Sensei is the head instructor for the IKL Gate City Dojo which is located in Old Town at the Mind Your Body Yoga Studio and is a Member of the IKL Board of Governors. 

 

She loves dogs, hiking, and learning.
