Entering healthcare at age 19, I had no idea how exciting my future would be! I was the first nursing assistant at Pocatello Regional Medical Center and worked there for 5 years before I achieved my degree as a registered nurse. I worked as a charge nurse and staff nurse for an additional 5 years in nearly every nursing setting, including medical, surgical, orthopedics, rehabilitation, geriatrics, ICU, ER, and even one drug treatment program!

It made me sad to leave PRMC, but I had a calling to teach. After teaching for 7 years in the ISU LPN program, I was proud to achieve my MS in nursing education. This knowledge has made me a better educator, nurse and person.

Through my roles at ISU, I have had the opportunity to add to my skill sets by teaching in all possible teaching settings, including face-to face, web-based, distance TV, learning lab and clinical settings. I continue to teach part-time in the ISU baccalaureate program and ISU CNA program and am a frequent guest speaker in many of our course offerings at ISU .

Although I loved my past employment roles, it is my career as health program manager at ISU that has been the most rewarding. I have had the pleasure of working with students in all of our health offerings. I hope I can continue to contribute to our excellent educational opportunities and feel grateful to work with such a great team.

My favorite Motto: "Education cannot be looked at as a necessary inconvenience and education must be supplemented with experience to be valuable."
