Scientist with Managing Idaho Landscapes for Ecosystem Services’ study the relationship between humans and their natural environment, in particular the use of ecosystem services provided by nature. We analyze services such as water supply, water quality, flood control, and water-based recreation, and are interested in the different ways that rural and urban citizens prefer to manage each service. Our goal is to predict use, then inform decision makers of their options. Prof. Rodgers will explain the cooperative study of Idaho Ecosystem Services currently underway, financed by a five year, $20 million NSF grant for all three state universities.
