Lisa Murphy - Ooey Gooey Lady
Lisa Murphy - PhotoLisa is the founder and CEO of Ooey Gooey, Inc. where her mission is to assist in the transformation of the industry of early childhood education by offering 1) the best workshops and trainings; 2) the most up to date materials and resources; and 3) insightful conversations and connections through the power of social media. Lisa presents hundreds of workshops each year to both domestic and international audiences on various topics related to early childhood education. Lisa has an M.Ed. in early childhood education from Champlain College in Vermont. She has authored four books, produced dozens of teacher training DVD's and is a popular keynote speaker at educational conferences. Lisa's standing room only seminars have become nationally known for their information, humor, inspiration and energetic delivery. Frequently asked if she has ever been a stand up comic, Lisa practices what she preaches by blending the learning with the laughing.

Lisa shares the powerful story of her first day of school. Through active and engaging storytelling Lisa brings you back to her first day, taking you on a grand tour of Miss Mary's Nursery School. And, in the style she has become famous for, she shares many observations, lessons and anecdotes about how early childhood has changed along the way.

Jeremy Thomas PhD in Sociology - Cultural Diversity in Early Childhood Education
Jeremy Thomas - PhotoThis presentation and workshop will explore the rewards and challenges of cultural diversity, especially those that can occur within early childhood education. Topics such as racial, ethnic, and religious diversity will be considered as well as how variations in language, customs, and family structures may impact the learning environment. Participants will have the opportunity to investigate how particular aspects of cultural diversity play out in their professional contexts, and they will be given tools that will allow them to both better celebrate diversity while also better preparing them to respond to challenges along the way.

SATURDAY (8:15-3:30 p.m.)

Identifying and Creating Child Centered Environments
This workshop provides an in-depth exploration of the 9 points within the framework of Lisa Murphy's approach to working with children. Via interactive lecture, true-to-life examples, anecdotes and her signature “learning and laughing” style, this workshop presents what it really means to be a hands-on, play-based, child-centered program.

*CEUs* If applying for CEUs, a separate form will need to be filled out at the conference. There is a $20.00 application fee. ISU CEUs are a way of recording contact hours for relicensing, promotions, and maintaining professional memberships. Each hour in an approved session is recorded as 1/10 CEU. Additional information on how many CEUs will be available will be included in the conference packets.
*Academic Credit*
In order to attain academic credit, you must attend the entire day Friday and Saturday, as well as Friday evening and complete a homework assignment. There is a $50 credit registration fee. Credit application forms will be available at the conference. Transcripts can be requested from ISU’s Registrar Office (208) 282-2166.
