Many of our ancestors were illiterate, but they communicated about death through the universal language of gravestone symbolism. Our ability to  interpret these important symbols helps us understand our ancestors and their lives. After this class, you'll be able to determine whether the deceased was male or female, religious, a member of a fraternal organization, loved or not - even if she or he had a sense of humor!
