Welcome to ’s Apprenticeship and Vocational Programs.

Idaho State University has a long history of offering certified U.S. Department of Labor Apprenticeship Programs throughout southeast Idaho.

These Registered Apprenticeship Programs connect job seekers, who want to learn new skills, with employers looking for qualified workers. The job seekers, known as Apprentices, receive academic instruction and are paid for the work they perform during their on-the-job training. Completion of academic instruction and on-the-job training equips each Apprentice with a portable skill set for advancement in their chosen field.

Currently there is a high demand for individuals with formal training in Welding, AutoCad, Machining and Other Vocational Training.  And statistics have shown some impressive salaries for these positions.  

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for Welders and Machinists is expected to increase steadily. Many of the job openings for Welders will result from a need to replace experienced workers. An aging of the nation's infrastructure, which means more products that need repair or replacement, will provide even more career opportunities.
