This course is an introduction to a modified Shorin Ryu style of Karate. Because Okinawa is the birthplace of Karate, Japanese terminology will be used along with English translation. Students will explore classical movements of karate and how these relate to self-defense. The course emphasizes building character, self-control, humility, and respect.
